The article starts saying that self-driving cars seemed like science fiction. But for me they still are science fiction, I can not imagine a car driving on the road by itself.
I believe that is not possible....I wouldn't like watching cars driving as if they are ghosts. Maybe is the future but I prefer to think that the machines are just machines.
It is perfectly coherent with the policy of controlling any movement of people. Cars have always been a symbol of freedom and it has been often exploited in movies, even in movies that could seem to break with the general values of society. Organizing a society -with transports or any other subject- should not always imply uniforming its way. In the name of security and the safe of our lifes, we have been exposed to video-camaras, chips in ID, genetic statistics, etc. We should reassess what kind of society do we want, the way we want to improve it and the counterparts of any measure.
