Article of the week

Even though members of the family of Goya painting we were talking about last day were frightening, the paint is not in this scary list. However, there is a "black painting" of Goya between the 10 best scary paintings.

  1. A very interesting list! I love Caravaggio's! Maybe I miss in this list a Francis Bacon's painting called "Study after Velazquez's Portrait of Pope Innocent X": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Study_after_Velazquez%27s_Portrait_of_Pope_Innocent_X.jpg

This painting has had a strong influence in the horror of last decades, from "Alien" to "Jacob's ladder", which also influenced to the videogame "Silent Hill". It is about an extremely deformed reality that arises something weird from the unconsciousness, emotionally very intense, some kind of cosmic evil, like in Lovecraft's tales. Brrrrr, it's very scary to me!!!

  2. Wowwwwww......This list of selected paintings are very suitable for this time.
Some of them are really scared.I prefer other paintings that are more relaxed
But what happen if we stayed locked a night in the museum's room with all these paintings?????

    Mistery, mistery.....

  4. An article very appropriate at this time.

I love Goya's painting and I have looked for more information about "The Dog", Goya's painting that appears in this article. It symbolizes the man's fight against the forces of evil. I don't know if it is true, but what I can say is that it is a terrifying painting.

  5. Interesting article! I really enjoy visiting museums, and Goya's paints. I think that "Saturn devouring one of his sons" is terrifying too. I love his Black Painting series.
Montse, could be a good idea to visit that kind of paints at night!
    Ummm, interesting ;)
